Implications of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)

On June 26, 2013, the Supreme Court struck down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act as  it was unconstitutional because it excluded state-sanctioned, same-sex marriages from the Federal definition of marriage.

Pace University is committed to equality and diversity among its employees, having already offered benefits to same-sexdomestic partners for many years.

While Federal guidance is still forthcoming (see the IRS Statement on the Court’s decision), Pace University would like to take action immediately upon issuance of guidance. In order to do so, University Benefits will need a copy of your marriage certificate. If you have not done so already, please send a copy of your marriage certificate to University Benefits ( or at extension 22828) so that we can record and update your marital status.  If you have previously supplied your marriage certificate to the University Benefits office, please contact us to confirm.

Pace will continue to provide additional information as the implications of this historic decision are clarified.


The New York City Earn Sick Time Act takes effective April 1, 2014. 

This act requires that employees working in New York City to accrue paid time off regardless of employee class, with exception.  Click here to see Pace's Policy.

June 6, 2014 - Leadership Forum for Staff
We are very pleased to announce the inaugural Leadership Forum for Staff, a program many of you have requested. In past years, the Forum was offered by invitation only, to director level and above. This year, in addition to holding the Forum in the morning for that population, we are adding a Forum in the afternoon for all staff!! 

This initial Leadership Forum for Staff, “Appreciative Inquiry in Higher Education:  Transforming our Culture” will be held on Friday June 6, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Rooms 206-208 at the Graduate Center, One Martine Avenue, White Plains.

Pre-registration is required, so click here to register. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the program will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

2014  Summer Flex Hours Are Here Again!
In recognition of your contributions, the University will again offer summer flex hours this year. This summer each full-time staff member will have the opportunity to take every other Friday off, for three Fridays, or the equivalent of three days (2.5 days for those working an 80% schedule) beginning July 1 and continuing through August 8.
