Alerie Tirsch - Director of Residence Life

Alerie joins us from LIU Post where she was Director of Student Life and Leadership Development for seven years. She has eight years of significant experience in housing during her time at Stony Brook University. While at Stony Brook University, Alerie helped to build the undergraduate colleges, a program that integrates first year students into the university, within the residence halls. In addition to her work with the undergraduate colleges, she taught two peer education classes and chaired several divisional and campus-wide committees demonstrating her commitment to teamwork and leadership. While working on Long Island, Alerie was an active member of the Long Island College and Student Personnel Association helping to coordinate their annual conference. Alerie has a Master of Arts degree with a concentration in Education from Stony Brook University. She is thrilled to be a part of the Pace Community and looks forward to building further partnerships with administrators, faculty, and students as we add more academic initiatives in the halls to improve on student success

Matthew Lavery- Associate Director - Housing Operations

Matt is originally from Manchester, Connecticut. He recieved his BS in Computer Science from Stonehill College where he was a Resident Assistant for three years. Following that, Matt earned his Master's Degree in Higher Education - Administration from Redlands College in Redlands, CA. After earning his degree, he has worked for Residence Life programs at the University of Idaho, Oklahoma State University, and most recently, Eastern Kentucky University where he held the position of Associate Director. Matt is excited to be a part of the Pace University community.

Shari Crandall - Associate Director - Training & Development

Shari developed a strong foundation in residence life in various capacities such as the Area Coordinator for the University of West Georgia, Administrative Resident Director for Semester at Sea, the Residence Life Coordinator at the Florida International University, and as a Hall Director at the Southern Methodist University. She also has experience in a variety of student affairs functional areas, such as the Center for Leadership and Service at the University of Florida (UF), LGBT Affairs (UF), and Assessment (UF). Shari earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from UNC Charlotte and a master’s degree in Higher Education from Florida State University. Currently, Shari is a PhD student in Higher Education at UF. Her dissertation topic focuses on students who come to college from the foster care system and how they adapt to college.



Matt Landau

Assistant Director - Student Conduct

Matthew Landau was born in Kingston, NY and split his childhood in New York and the suburbs of Philadelphia. He attended Binghamton University, attaining a B.A. in Political Science. At Binghamton he served as Student Association President, earning him accolades through the years, including but not limited to, the Paul J. Battaglia Student Organization Leader of the Year. Matthew has a Masters of Science in Teaching and a Masters in Public Administration. Matt spent the last two years as a Residence Director at Pace and has been in position as an Area Director for the past year.

Vincent "Vinnie" Birkenmeyer

Assistant Director - Community Development

Vinnie Birkenmeyer is from Poughkeepsie, New York and recently completed a B.A. from Pace University- Pleasantville with a major in History and minors in Pre-Law Studies and Political Science.  Vinnie is excited to be back at Pace working on his Masters in Public Administration within the government track.  Vinnie also hopes to one day attend law school. Vinnie is a brother of Alpha Phi Delta fraternity and member of the Men’s Division II Tennis team, and served in many leadership positions as an undergraduate.

Erin McNamara

Office Manager

A lifelong resident of Westchester County, Erin began her career working for Pace University in the spring of 2008. Prior to joining the Residential Life staff, Erin was the personal assistant to the president of Oceana Publications Inc. which was later bought out by Oxford University Press. From 1985-1997, Erin spent her time as the personal assistant to the CEO of Carrafiello – Diehl and Associates Inc. of Irvington, New York. They were the largest advertising agency in Westchester County representing companies such as Phizer, Block Drug, American Cyanamids, and Tambrands to name a few. When Erin is not working on campus or attending Paces sporting events, she is busy as a licensed real estate agent for the Coldwell Banker branch in Briarcliff Manor.
