Overview

The Office of Housing & Residential Life at the New York City campus is committed to providing facilities, programs, and services that complement your academic, personal and social development. Each member of the Office of Housing and Residential Life staff is trained in areas of student development and crisis management, as well as the daily management of their facility. As adults, students are expected to accept the responsibilities of community membership while enjoying its privileges.

Living in the city can be the most exciting experience of a young person's life - and having a place to call "home" in the city adds a sense of safety and belonging. Our residence facilities give Pace students that satisfaction. All rooms and apartments are furnished with a standard twin bed, desk, chair, dresser (captain's bed with storage drawers), wardrobe or closet (size and number of closets per room may vary), and window blinds or shades. Residence halls are equipped with complimentary cable programming and High-Speed Internet access.

General Facts:

  • Approximately 2,000 students at Pace University's New York City campus live in the residence halls.
  • For about every floor community of 35 to 45 residents, there is Resident Advisor (RA) who plans and organizes educational and social programs on a regular basis
  • The RA staff for each building is supervised by one or more full-time resident directors.
  • Residence halls have security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as Resident Advisor and Housing Professional Staff on call each night and weekend.
  • Winter break is not covered by the semester housing rate.  Students interested in living at the university during the winter break must register in advance, and must pay an additional fee.
  • First-year students may be placed in:
    • Maria's Towers, at 1 Pace Plaza in Manhattan (about 550 first-year student beds)
    • 55 John Street, Manhattan (about 350 first-year student beds)
    • First-year students may be placed in other buildings if if necessary
    • please note that class-year assignments and building options are subject to change
  • After the first-year, students pick rooms through a room selection process which takes place in March and April of the spring semester.  Returning students have the following buildings from which to choose:
    • 180 Broadway, Manhattan (about 600 upper-class student beds)
    • 106 Fulton, Manhattan (about 200 upper-class student beds)
    • St. George , Brooklyn Heights (about 400 upperc-lass student beds)

Building Descriptions:


182 Broadway
The corner of Broadway and John Street, Manhattan 10038

This brand new residence hall comprises floors four through twenty-three of an all new facilty.  The building, opening to residents for the first time in Fall 2013, will house approximately 600 upper-class Pace students (students attending their second or higher year of college).  With it's proximity to our 55 John Street, 106 Fulton and Maria's Tower (One Pace Plaza) residences, this building is the new cornerstone to our 1,800 student campus in the heart of Downtown. Each room features a cable TV connection, an Ethernet connection (NO CORD PROVIDED) and wireless internet throughout the building.  Rooms are fully furnished with bed, desk, dresser, wardrobe and desk chair for each resident.  There is also a bathroom attached to each double or triple room.  Windows have privacy shades, and the floors are tiled.

The 4th floor common area includes student lounge, quiet study area, game room, meeting/screening room, kitchen, laudry facilities, fitness center and staff offices.  Mailboxes are located on the ground floor, in the private entry lobby for Pace reside.  Two themed floor options will be provided.

 

Special Notes:

  • Maximum capacity of student residents: 608
  • Each floor has 9 triple rooms, 2 double rooms and one RA single
  • 182 Broadway has 23 floors total, but residents only live on 5-23
  • 4th floor amenities include a range of common use rooms, laundry facilities, kitchen and staff offices
  • Triple and double room with attached private bathrooms for each room
  • Bed style: Standard twin (loftable; in some rooms, beds are REQUIRED to be lofted due to available space or room configuration)
  • 24 Hour Security - students must show ID as they enter

Maria's Tower
One Pace Plaza, Manhattan, 10038

Located in the main tower of the New York City campus, this residence hall comprises floors five through seventeen, and houses approximately 550 first-year Pace students. Each double occupancy room features a wall-to-wall carpeting, cable TV connection, an Ethernet connection (NO CORD PROVIDED) and wireless internet throughout the building.  Residents are just a short elevator ride away from classes, the library, and dining facilities!  Maria's Tower offers a range of theme floor options, as well as non-themed floors. Maria's Tower is an alcohol and substance-free building.

A TV lounge and a study lounge on every floor (the 5th floor, which has has half the number of residents as the other floors, has only a TV lounge).  Laundry facilities are located on the 5th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 13th, 15th, and 17th floors.  Laundry machines in this building  are from Maytag (provided by Macgray) and are FREE of charge to all residents.

  • Maria's Tower has 18 floors total, but residents only live on 5-17

  • 24 Hour Security - students must show ID as they enter 1 Pace Plaza, and again when they transition to the 4th floor elevator that services the residential floors
  • In order to preserve the integrity of the building's alcohol policy, and to avoid conflict, we work to avoid placing students who are 21 years of age and older in Maria's Tower, even if they are first year students; if such students are placed in the building, the are subject to reassignment at the discretion of the director of housing

55 John Street

The Corner of John Street and Dutch Street, Manhattan, 10038

Located in downtown Manhattan, the John Street residence houses approximately 500 first-year students, and is only a few blocks away from the "main" campus at 1 Pace Plaza.  This smoke-free property is leased by Pace University in its entirity from Educational Housing Services (EHS).  Residents share access to a convenient lobby lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities.  The double and triple occupancy rooms in this leased property include bedroom furnishings, private bath, a refrigerator, a flatscreen TV,  and an Ethernet connection (NO CORD PROVIDED) and wireless internet throughout the building. 55 John Street offers both theme floor options, as well as non-themed floors.

106 Fulton Street
Between William Street and Dutch Street, Manhattan 10038

Students who live at Fulton Hall can choose from a variety of room configurations from singles to six-person apartments. This building offers enough space to house over two hundred upper-class students.  The building features a TV Lounge located on the 2nd floor, and a study lounge, performing arts rehearsal space, laundry room, and fitness room located on the 3rd floor.  All resident rooms are equipped with Cable, an Ethernet connection (NO CORD PROVIDED) and wireless internet throughout the building.  Laundry machines in this building  are from Maytag (provided by Macgray) and are FREE of charge to all residents.

  • Apartments on floors 7 through 15 have full kitchens (stove, oven, refrigerators, dishwasher and sink).
  • Apartments on floors 4, 5 and 6 do not have complete kitchens.  These apartments have "galley kitchens" with sinks and small refrigerators.  They also have a space for students to place a microwave, but stove, oven, refrigerators and dishwasher are not included with these rooms.

The St. George Hotel - (Weller Building)
100 Henry Street, Brooklyn Heights

Enjoy living in the historic Brooklyn Heights district just a few minutes away from Pace's main campus area. The St. George is only two blocks from Montague Street, well known for its restaurants, shopping, and cultural activities.  Residents share access to a fantastic array of amenities, including lounges, gourmet kitchen facilities, a theatre room, study group meeting rooms, and laundry facilities.  The single, double and triple occupancy rooms in this propertyinclude bedroom furnishings, private bath, and refrigerator, full cable service, and High-Speed Internet access.  Pace University leases a portion of this building from Educational Housing Services (EHS).  The remainder of the building is leased by a number of other area colleges and universities, giving the St. George a "university city" feeling.

The St. George provides all of the charm and safety of historic Brooklyn Heights, with the convenience of a Manhattan commute.  If you are familiar with Brooklyn Heights, you know that it can be an easier commute to most Manhattan destinations than the Upper East Side.  The St. George residence is located in the same complex as the 2/3 express subway train, which runs straight through the center of Manhattan.  The building is just two stops away from the Pace University subway stop at Fulton Street and William. The tree lined streets of Brooklyn heights are just 2 blocks from a beautiful waterfront promenade overlooking the Manhattan skyline. In addition, numerous cafes, parks and retail shops are within walking distance of the residence.
