The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) is the office at Pace to find out ways students and student organizations can get engaged in social issues, from the environment, to women’s rights, to gay marriage, to international conflicts.

Students and student organizations can participate in one of CCAR’s many programming opportunities, like our volunteer events, leadership certificate, Alternative Spring Break, and Faculty Assistant program (FACES).

The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) has many different innovative programs designed to cultivate awareness and knowledge of, as well as action and leadership in social issues.  There are opportunities both on and off campus, and for individuals with diverse interests and time constraints. Get involved today!

The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) programs exciting one-time volunteer events that are open to all students, staff and faculty at Pace.  These events take place at community organizations who broach a wide range of social issues. Volunteering events generally take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and can last a few hours to an entire day. You will commute to the event as a group via the New York City Metro, or CCAR funded transportation.

The Center for Community Action and Research (CCAR) programs many different types of education activities and events for you to become informed about and get engaged in social issues, like:

  • Awareness activities: Fun games that help you to understand a social issue
  • Common Hour Convos: Common hour discussion periods about hot button topics. Free pizza is always served!
  • Guest speakers
  • Movie screenings
