Social Entrepreneurship Enrichment Series
In partnership with Pace University’s Helen and Grant Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship, the Edwin G. Michaelian Institute for Public Policy & Management, the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, and the Lubin School of Business, students are offered an additional array of unique learning experiences and opportunities. These opportunities are open to all certificate and matriculated students.
For students in the Social Entrepreneurship subspecialization in the Not-For-Profit Management Graduate Certificate Program, involvement in one of the following experiences is mandatory. Moreover, reflections of any of the above enrichment experiences are strongly suggested for inclusion in the culminating reflective portfolio submitted at the end of the program.
- Attendance at the Wilson Center Visiting Scholar Lecture Series for every semester that a student is in-residence (lectures are conducted once in both the Fall and Spring semesters);
- Participation as a contestant in the annual (December) Pace Pitch Contest, a University-wide competition involving the presentation of extremely concise entrepreneurial (social or profit) ideas;
- Participation as a contestant in the annual Pace Business Plan Competition;
- Attendance in three not-for-profit management workshops offered through the Pace University-United Way Not-For-Profit Management Training Center;
- Write and publish an article for the Wilson Center Blog (4Nonprofits.org);
- Active organization of and participation in a major project of the Pace Association for Collegiate Entrepreneurs (P.A.C.E.), Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) or other student organization involved with social entrepreneurship;
- Connect with any one the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems of 15 service-learning courses and analyze the impact of technology on a not-for-profit organization.
Students must submit documentation of satisfactory completion of one of the above enrichment experiences to the MPA departmental office to be made part of the student’s file.
