Pace New Musicals

The Pace New Musicals program was developed in 2007 to nurture the creation of new musical theater in New York City, while at the same time providing an invaluable educational opportunity for students to work directly with top professionals in the field. The program allows students to experiment with new, untested works without precedent-setting productions – a rare opportunity in theater education.

The Musical Theater program at Pace Performing Arts will present LITTLE MISS FIX-IT, book and lyrics by Kirsten A. Guenther and music by Joy Son from January 29—February 1, 2014. It will be directed by Director of Musical Theater Amy Rogers.

From September 1—October 10, 2014 we will be accepting new submissions for the program.  The chosen piece will be given a full reading in the Schaeberle Theater at Pace University in lower Manhattan, with actors selected from the musical theater student body. There will be a two-week rehearsal period and a week of performances in January 2015.  Please contact roliver@pace.edu to submit.

Because of the short rehearsal time, we are looking for completed scores and scripts. Pace New Musicals will provide the space, the performers, a stage manager, a light board and light operator, and a director and music director. If a director and/or music director are already attached to the project and wish to continue that association, it is up to the creators whether or not to use them for this reading.

The objective is to nurture the creation of new musical theater in New York City  and to provide an invaluable educational opportunity to our students to work directly with top professionals in the field.
