Welcome to the Film and Screen Studies Program on Pace University’s New York City Campus.

Our program provides a unique interdisciplinary education in film and related media. Film and Screen Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, as well as a minor. Our program offers students a strong foundation in film history, film analysis and film theory, as well as hands–on exposure to the technological aspects of film production and cinematic storytelling techniques and traditions through the use of professional 16mm film and HD video camera packages, lighting and studio equipment; all projects are edited and finished on Final Cut Pro.  The core major curriculum is enhanced by electives that highlight the multiple possibilities of a Film and Screen Studies education: students are encouraged to emphasize their particular interest in the field by completing their credits in courses ranging from Latin American Cinema to Screenwriting, The Biology of Science-Fiction Film, Media and Gender, Video Production and Digital Imaging, and Acting for Television and Film.

Film and Screen Studies augments the on-campus education by offering and/or providing credit for a variety of internships in the film and media industry, taking advantage of our location in one of the largest centers of media production in the world, and of Pace University’s tremendously successful Cooperative Education program. Film and Screen Studies students may pursue internships in film production, film festivals, television, journalism, internet companies, and many other related arenas, gaining professional experience while still completing their degree.

Pace University serves as an exciting home for Film and Screen Studies: our campus is a featured venue for the famous Tribeca Film Festival and is home to the Actors Studio MFA program and the Inside the Actors Studio television program. Serving as a major hub of lower Manhattan, Pace University offers Film and Screen Studies students an incredible opportunity to combine their academic experience with the dynamic world of New York City culture.
