Overview of Services

Career Advising and Exploration
Career Services offers a variety of services and programs designed to help students make educated, well-informed decisions about major and career choice.  We do this by providing workshops, written materials, online resources, career inventories and individual counseling. Although students and alumni at all stages find help through these career research tools, the best time to start the career exploration process is during the freshman year.

Internship Experience
Employers tell us time and time again that the most desirable candidates for an entry-level position are those who already have meaningful and relevant work experience. The best way to gain such experience in college is often by completing internships, either for career exploration purposes or to gain in-depth experience within a chosen career field. A recent (2009) survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers revealed that students who completed at least one internship during college were 64% more likely to be employed upon graduation than their peers who had not participated in an internship opportunity. Whether it is to make a student more marketable or simply to explore a possible career field, internships are an important part of the career development process.

Resume Writing, Interviewing and Job Search Assistance
Career Services maintains a password protected database, eRecruiting, for our students and alumni where employers can post full-time employment opportunities, part-time jobs and internships. All Pace  students and alumni are encouraged to create an account in eRecruiting  to view position listings. In addition to the job postings, Career Services staff provides assistance with resume and cover letter writing, networking strategies, interviewing skills and job search techniques.

Graduate School Advising
Career Services offers online resources and one-on-one counseling appointments for students interested in attending graduate or professional school. Assistance is available on topics such as making the initial decision whether to attend grad school, how to identify appropriate graduate programs and advice for completing the application process, including standardized tests and personal statements.
